Dr. Gail Kaden, Dr. Ilyse Nayor, and Dr. Brian Rabinowitz are pleased to introduce you to Pediatric Associates of Plainview, an independently owned and operated practice. Our philosophy, dating back to when we initially began this practice in 1999, was and is to give quality pediatric care with a personal touch.

Dr. Kaden, Dr. Nayor, and Dr. Rabinowitz are board-certified pediatricians, fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics and members of the Nassau Pediatric Society. Since completing the residency program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (Cohen Children’s Medical Center), all three doctors have remained involved in teaching.

  • Laboratory services in-office such as rapid strep and overnight throat culture, urine and stool tests, anemia check

  • Wart removal
  • Drainage of small abscesses and nail infections
  • Ear piercing (two doctors simultaneously piercing each ear)
  • Fluoride tooth varnish treatment
  • Concussion assessment
  • ADD/ADHD testing/evaluation
  • Depression/anxiety screening
  • Developmental evaluation/autism screening
  • Adolescent gynecological discussion
  • Postnatal depression screening for new mothers

Our On-Call Schedule:

Either Dr. Kaden, Dr. Nayor, or Dr. Rabinowitz are on call. There is no covering group; we are always available for our patients through our service at (877) 285-8955. (Our service number is also available after hours on our answering machine.) Same day sick appointments are routinely available. Sunday morning urgent care visits are also available

What Types of Physicals Does My Child Need

While any child may dread a trip to the doctor’s office, it is essential to their overall health that they receive all of the necessary check-ups. It is common to be unsure about what physicals your child needs and what they may entail, especially as a first-time parent. Annual or Back To School Physical:pediatrician in Hicksville

Yearly physicals are crucial to the health of your child and are required by any educational facility that they are attending. These examinations allow doctors to track any changes that have occurred in your child since the last visit. Our Long Island Pediatrics will take note of your child’s height, weight, and body mass index on growth charts during each visit to compare their development to other kids of the same age and gender. Your child’s blood pressure, hearing, and vision will also be tested. You should also be prepared to answer questions about their sleep, eating, and exercise habits. These questions will help our pediatricians gain a better understanding of your child’s overall health. Depending on their age, puberty may also be discussed. Camp or Sports Physical:

Does your child plan on attending summer camp or to participate in sports? To get proper clearance for this, they will need to receive what is called a preparticipation physical. This examination is performed to determine if your child is healthy enough to partake in the desired activities. The two main components of a preparticipation physical examination usually include:

  • Evaluation of Medical History
    • History of past medical conditions, injuries, family injuries, and medications currently being taken will all be assessed during this portion of the physical.
  • Physical Examination
    • Height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, reflexes, flexibility, and vision will all be tested and recorded during this portion of the physical.

 

After the examination, our Long Island Pediatrics will determine if your child is cleared to participate in the requested activities. They may also provide tips to avoid sustaining any injuries.
