With summer quickly approaching, the time for your child to head off to camp is right around the corner. However, before this happens, they’ll need to undergo a summer camp physical to make sure they’re healthy enough to attend this year. What Will Take Place During My Child’s Physical?
The purpose of a summer camp physical is to determine if any medical conditions will prevent your child from attending camp as present. Even if they had received one last summer, a new examination needs to be administered to make sure no new problems have developed. When coming in for for a summer camp physical, you can expect our pediatrician to do the following:
- Thoroughly review past medical records and your family’s history.
- Check vital signs, height, and weight.
- Perform vision and hearing tests.
- Create a plan for treatment, dietary restrictions, or any physical limitations if necessary.
- Review vaccination history.
Preparing For The Physical
Before you leave your house for the physical, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork the camp is requiring our pediatrician to fill out. Also, tell your child to wear athletic clothing that they feel comfortable moving around in. Don’t forget to have your child bring any prescription strength glasses, inhalers, or EpiPens they carry with them regularly.
The Importance Of Scheduling An Appointment ASAP
If you know your child will be attending camp this summer, don’t wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment for a physical. For your child to attend camp, our pediatrician will need to sign off on the paperwork.
